UNSTABLE BOND I

Mixed media video sculpture, projector, 4 videos of 20 second loop, 2015

Unstable bonds are capable of possessing unique psychological functions between actual objects. Unstable bond I explores the discrepancies between the psychological and physical realms, and the legitimacy of the digital image as a representation of reality, inviting the viewer within this tension.

These humble, negligible objects that I’ve collected are easy to miss in distractions of our everyday world. I reused “found” materials to create a curiously perceived bond that floats between fact and fabrication. Their only qualification for rehabilitation was that they feel like they are missing something.

I’ve found that the idea of unstable bonds is capable of possessing unique psychological functions between actual objects. One object is destroyed but a new one is created.  In the end a symbiotic relationship develops with its components.

It is an opportunity to expand our perceptions of seemingly ordinary objects, and tap the unseen or subconscious forces that operate around us.
